What customers say?

“ A friend recommended this place about a year plus ago. And we have since been back a couple of times. This is our 3rd time now and we absolutely love the seafood porridge. The seafood is fresh and the abalone also super good. The restaurant is clean. But keep in mind that it’s a simple coffee shop with good quality food. So don’t expect that a fine dining type of experience. Will be back again on our next trip. ”

“ Supposedly, one of the best prawn crackers in Ipoh. Came over to buy some for a friend and noted the boss cooking this amazing pot of goodness. He said it's their signature seafood porridge. Will be back to try it next time! ”

“ Very delicious meal with fresh seafood ie crabs, prawns, pomfret, abalone. The prawn and crab noodle was the best. Has wok hei. The seafood was luxurious. However, it was quite expensive ie over RM100 per pax. The restaurant is quite old but the boss was very friendly and accommodating. ”

“ A great place for seafood in Ipoh to enjoy the true, natural flavour of fresh seafood and unique cooking styles. Well known for seafood porridge as well. Simple, humble, and family-run restaurant for those who appreciate authenticity. ”

“ Lucky Restaurant is a well-known spot in Ipoh, especially famous for its seafood dishes like the signature Golden Porridge , Sky Level Number One Porridge天下第一粥 ,(sorry for translate directly from chinese) freshwater prawn noodles, and many other seafood delights. The prices are on the steeper side, which might not appeal to every local diner, but in my opinion, they’re worth every cent. What stands out most is the consistency — the chef delivers every dish with the same quality and flavor on each visit. It’s clear that there is a lot of dedication, time, and effort put into the preparation of every item on the menu. You can truly taste the commitment behind the cooking. It’s also a bit of a hotspot — don’t be surprised to see supercars parked nearby, adding a touch of glamour to the dining atmosphere. The restaurant also offers a variety of high-quality Chinese teas, perfect for pairing with the rich seafood dishes. In short, Lucky Restaurant may not be for everyone due to its premium pricing, but if you’re looking for top-notch seafood and a consistent culinary experience, it’s definitely worth a visit. ”

“ 22/10/24: The food is tasty overall but on the salty side. We had the seafood porridge that came with around 10 whole abalones inside, but sadly only 3 to 4 crab claws. Having said that, there's plenty of dried scallops. The fishball was bouncy but I felt a little too jelly and would have preferred it to be firmer. While deep fried garoupa fish slices were really crispy but too salty. Service was good but feel that they should refurbish to better fit with the price they're charging. The porridge is not cheap, a pot (3/4 pax) starts at RM190. ”

“ There's a variety of seafood porridge and the one we had is known as Golden porridge that consists of crab meat, dried scallops and small abalone. Very good porridge that's flavorful with a generous portion of ingredients. Also tried their boiled chicken which is juicier and slightly more tender. Again I'm not sure if they actually do the ice dip for their chicken which will tenderize the meat ”
